Why Organic?
The word 'organic' is used to describe fibers (like cotton) or food crops that are grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. Organic farms replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic pesticides and fertilizers, and encourage biologically diverse agriculture. Organic cotton clothing is best for babies. A baby's skin is five times thinner than an adult's skin - this means that they can absorb chemicals much more easily. Being softer too, it's a great choice for delicate skin.

Organic cotton is made from raw materials that have not been treated with unnecessary and damaging chemicals. Without nasty chemicals, organic cotton products are more biodegradable too. Organic clothing are healthy for baby - because of their smaller body size, differing metabolism and rapidly growing and developing systems, children are simply more vulnerable to the side effects of pesticides and chemicals. Some of the most widely used chemicals used to make cotton clothing (that we put next to our children’s skin) have been associated with skin irritations. Organic baby clothes are made from cotton grown without pesticides or chemicals, so they’re better for babies’ skin and health. Kind to delicate skin, organic baby clothes are exceptionally soft, pure, clean, hypoallergenic and non-irritating to babies’ skin. The softness and quality of organic cotton is unmatched, making it a perfect choice for your baby’s delicate skin.

Organic farms work the natural way - protecting wildlife and the environment - they don’t use chemicals or artificial fertilizers, so they don’t harm wild plants, wild animals or insects. Organic farming keeps the soil healthier and more fertile, the waters cleaner and less polluted and promotes a healthy environment.

Organic cotton is not only softer, but stronger as well. Unlike synthetics that pill, emit static electricity, prematurely age and trap perspiration, organic cotton wears well and is extremely breathable. Organic textiles come from sources we can trust. Farms are inspected by international bodies and must adhere to strict guidelines. By buying organically certified products, you can feel reassured that they have been made to meet strict quality standards

It's true that organic goods usually cost about 30% more to buy than conventional products. That's because organic farmers are driven by quality and ethics rather than speed and quantity. Crop yields are often slightly lower than on conventional farms, harvesting is usually done by hand, and crop rotation is practiced in line with organic certification. As it is initially difficult (practically and economically) to switch to organic methods, there are far fewer organic farms than conventional ones. It makes finding organic produce all the more difficult.
The gorgeous range will be available on-line soon. In the meantime if you need any more information please contact us at info[at]petit[dot]com[dot]au.
